I have always had a very pleasant personality.Most people perceive me to be easy-going.I like to express my opinions when I am certain and have never been afraid to do so since I entered college.When I was a kid, I was afraid to go on stage to speak in the public.After persistent self-training, the stage-fright(怯场), finally went away.I was chosen as the delegate of Fudan University to participate in the National Intercollegiate debate contest and won the championship.Another strong point of mine is that I am constantly pushing myself to be the best.I have a broad common sense and even broader interests.I like to read and learn new things, and I rarely get satisfied easily.The area that I need to improve the most is in thinking more freely.
I am also satisfied with myself in my performance during my four years of college.Under the enormous pressure of being an Engineering student, I was able to maintain decent grades while keeping myself busy with a lot of extra-curricular activities.As mentioned in the application form, I was chosen among several hundred applicants to be one of the delegation members of a good will mission to visit the United States in 1988.I worked for the China Youth Travel Agency during the summers to guide tourists from various countries to China’s tourist attractions.Through these, I acquired experience in working with others and, more importantly, became more mature.
I am also satisfied with my adaptability to new environments.I was enrolled in the University of Michigan in September 1991.The sudden change of living, studying and even communicating in a very different place did not give me too much trouble.I finished my Master’s degree in one year with satisfactory grades.
I believe I am intelligent and learn quickly.I started working for IBM in March 1993. Initially, I was assigned to work on a couple of projects that I was not extremely familiar with.This, coupled with the fact that I lacked formal work experience, caused me to have a hard time in the beginning.However, I displayed my sharpness in learning the basics, and brought to the work my usual dedication.By the time I had been there for six weeks, I was ready for even greater challenges.In December 1993, I was promoted to be the Principal Investigator of the project that I am currently working on.

The first sign of my parents' change is the delight they take in visiting toy and children's clothing stores. These two people, who usually dislike anything having to do with shopping malls, become crazy consumers. While they tell me to budget my money and shop wisely, they are buying up every doll and dump truck in sight. And this is only the beginning of the holidays!
When my brother's children arrive, Grandpa and Grandma come into full form. First they throw out all ideas about a balanced diet for the grandkids. While we were raised in a house where everyone had to take two bites of corn, beets (甜菜) , or liver (foods that appeared quite often on our table despite constant complaining), the grandchildren never have to eat anything that does not appeal to them. Grandma carries chocolate in her pockets to bribe (贿赂) the littlest ones into following her around the house, while Grandpa offers "surprises" of candy and cake to them all day long. Boxes of chocolate-pie disappear while the whole-wheat bread get hard and stale. The kids love all the sweets, and when the sugar raises their energy levels, Grandma and Grandpa can always decide to leave and do a bit more shopping or go to bed while my brother and sister-in-law try to deal with their highly active kids.
Once the grandchildren have arrived, Grandma and Grandpa also seem to forget all of the responsibility lectures I so often hear in my daily life. But, if I track mud into the house while helping to unload groceries, I become "careless"; if I scold one of the grandkids for tearing pages out of my textbook, I am" impatient". If Paula talks back to her mother, Grandma and Grandpa smile at her spirit. If I say one word about all of this excessive love, Mom and Dad reappear to have a talk with me about petty jealousies.
